Idiosyncrasy
Idiosyncratic has excellent etymology. The Greek stems: idios – ‘own’ and synkrasis – ‘mixing together’ crafts an apt description of my experience, as it’s my mix of characteristics/peculiarities that make me my own person, but I have benefited, and become that person, from living in open, inner-city, multicultural societies from which this mix has been selected, collected and developed. This ‘mixing together’ is a thing to be celebrated, and for me, as a fundamental of humanity, it’s central to my approach to humanity, education, interests, and output.
